The weather here in Devon has been truly horrible today, so this afternoon seemed like a good time to catch up on some sewing and complete my latest cushion cover ready for next week's Nostalgic Mix Fair at Totnes.
As regular readers will know, I love to take vintage patterns and recreate them with a modern twist, which is exactly what I've done with these lovebirds. The transfer was intended to be stitched as an outline only, I think, but I couldn't resist a little felt applique, a few buttons, a scrap of feedsack and a couple of remant pieces. All on a pure wool cream vintage blanket base, finished off with some dots and a smidgeon of ric-rac braid. I also added the word "Love" which I think finishes it off nicely. As usual I've put all my effort into the front, so the back is a simple envelope closure, again in the cream woollen blanket. Thank you to all those who entered my latest free draw. I am sorry to be a bit late with the results, but regretfully the junior judge (aka Ben) has proved to be completely hopeless at paw selecting biscuits. He is much faster and more agile than Amy, and his tongue is a lot longer - so the carefully numbered biscuits disappeared in a trice - there were 21 entrants, and I think the first 7 biscuits went in a single gulp! So I had to resort to the time-honoured method of numbers in a hat (or in this case an old biscuit tin). And the winner was no. 3 Shebandowan. Please let me have your postage details, and also whether you'd like yarn or blanket pieces and your prize will soon be winging its way to you.
