Getting ready for summer

I can't believe that it's been over a month since I last posted ... I've been sooo busy! As South Devon is a major holiday area our summers here are full of activities, among which are Craft Fairs and Summer Shows. I've booked to attend at least one show every month which means I need loads and loads of stock. So I've been sewing, knitting, painting and neglecting blogging.

Above is my new design for a baby change bag - it's a bit tongue in cheek as the bag is certainly "Made in Britain", but was the baby?!? It's fun mixing various techniques - here applique is combined with a specially printed patch - created using Paintshop then printed onto pure linen, softly padded then sewn to the centre of the Union Jack design.

Then there's the Betty the Strawberry Badger, knitted from a really great design by Debi Birkin. She sells her patterns online, and has a sale on until the end of the month, so well worth a visit if you're a keen knitter.

I've also been making some of these great vintage dress-style lavender sachets to sell. They're surprisingly easy to make and a great way to use up all those little scraps of fabric left over from other projects. They can be sewn either by hand or machine. I've posted the tutorial and template for these dresses as this month's freebie - I do hope you enjoy making them.

Finally, thanks for the kind comments about my blog, and to let you know that this month for newsletter subscribers I'm giving away two free knitting and crochet patterns ... so please complete the form on the right of this post if you'd like to receive them.
